The Workout -
I’m not fond of the dark. I have an over-active imagination, if such a thing can exist, and I see things in shadows and mist.
When I run, if you can call it that, I know just how fast I can go. If a large shadow were to suddenly become form, well, I can run pretty fast. Normally I just lope along like a wounded primate confused about whether I should even be running upright.
So...

The High School Years -
I remember sitting in the hospital in Honolulu when he was born. I was 24, he was late. Our families were planning on going home the next day. The doctor decided to induce Cheryl to encourage Cole to join us on the outside. Cole tends to do things on his own good sense of timing and order. Should’ve realized that then.

The Parts of Our Sum -
The ideal was just that. Perfect love. No fear. The Beatles. Something only achievable in the United States of America or perhaps some island nation we only ever dream of vacationing in.
Little big dreams because you could. Little big dreams because your horizon was unlimited. The levels unregulated. The distances not kept.
Who in history ever thought of this? Who ever dreamed of vistas so...

Out of the Shadows in Chicago
A month ago today we were driving through the badlands of South Dakota stretching our drive time from 12 to 16 hours in order to reach Chicago by the 6th.
We stopped to see where General Custer met his demise, but we zoomed past Mount Rushmore due to imminent darkness.
By mile 3,500, we were anxious to get to the next place we’d call home.
There was a palpable excitement in the car. I...
